Wow, I can't believe it's been 15 years since Cold Mountain was a bestseller. I *still* haven't read it!!!

Like Nancy, I find it difficult to believe it has been 15 years since Cold Mountain, which I loved! Also loved The God of Small Things. Like any reader who reads a lot, many books are gone from the mind fairly quickly, but both of these books still evoke images, a little residual sadness, and a great appreciation for authors whose beautiful language remains as important as the story.
